What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fleet Maintenance Manager position at Andrews Logistics?
Company Overview
Andrews Logistics LP is a bulk tank carrier operating late-model Peterbilt 579 tractors and DOT-specification tank trailers across 16 terminals. We haul products that don't tolerate shortcuts, and we invest in the people, tools, and technology that keep our equipment safe and moving.
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Fleet Maintenance Manager to lead our Pittsburgh shop. You will lead the technician team, own the preventive maintenance program, manage vendor spend and the shop budget, and keep equipment available and compliant.
Duties
- Lead, schedule, and develop the technician team; hire, train, and hold people accountable
- Own the preventive maintenance program and DOT inspection and cargo tank compliance schedule
- Manage the shop through our repair order and purchase order system — fully digital, from work request to invoice
- Manage diagnostic tools, service equipment, and shop capability; coordinate breakdown and road-call response
- Control the terminal maintenance budget: labor, parts, tires, and vendor spend
- Negotiate with and manage outside vendors and dealers; recover OEM warranty
- Increase repair work performed in-house and reduce reliance on vendor labor
- Set and enforce the safety standard on the shop floor
Qualifications
- Five or more years supervising or managing a Class 8 heavy-duty diesel shop
- Proven experience leading, training, and developing technicians
- Experience carrying a maintenance budget and controlling repair cost
- Working knowledge of DOT and FMCSA maintenance and inspection requirements
- Comfortable running a shop out of a computerized fleet maintenance system
- Cargo tank, hazmat, or bulk experience preferred — we will teach the tank side to the right leader
- Valid driver's license; CDL Class A and ASE certifications a plus
This is a leadership role with real authority and the systems to back it up — including in-house maintenance reporting that shows you your shop's spend, PM standing, and technician productivity daily instead of 40 days after close. If you want to lead a shop rather with a great team, apply today.
