Airport Operations Assistant
Reports To: Airport Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary
Provide courteous, efficient customer service to tenants, fuel patrons and the public. Will perform a variety of operations, fueling and facilities/grounds maintenance duties related to daily airport operation for the Andrews County Airport and special projects undertaken at the direction of the operations manager.
This is a responsible position which may involve independent judgment and performs a variety of duties for the airport manager. Duties include utilizing the point-of-sale software, service requests for fuel and maintenance, performing clerical work requiring application of various work methods and procedures, in accordance with the laws and regulations controlling the employing department, and with departmental function, policies and practices. Duties also include Airport Unicom radio monitoring, retail sales operations and supporting occasional front desk operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintains facility grounds, equipment and supplies- Works on a small team for a variety of airport projects
- Operates the airport Unicom radio
- Monitors fuel farm and observes and reports fuel levels
- Receives incoming telephone calls and visitors and, if necessary, refers callers to other city departments or employees for assistance
- Responds to complaints, inquiries and information concerning the airport
- Keeps retail and courtesy products stocked for customers
- Receives money and issues receipts for payments
- Operates Fuel Pump System and fuel trucks, aircrafts, and conducts fuel inspections when necessary
- Keeps log of visitors and tenants
- Must arrive at work on time and must maintain a regular and reliable level of attendance

- Ability to read and write the English language

- Ability to deal effectively with the general public and other city personnel in a courteous manner
Supervision
Works under the general direction of the Airport Manager.
Education and/or Experience
- High School Graduate or G.E.D.
Certifications and/or Licenses
- A Valid Class C Texas driver license and the ability to maintain a satisfactory driving record
Primarily in an outdoor environment with the ability to operate indoors when needed. May be exposed to extreme heat and cold during summer and winter months. Fine dexterity, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, talking, hearing and vision are regularly required. Occasionally, standing, reaching, handling, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, climbing, bending, and crouching are required.
