What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bookseller position at Andover Bookstore?
We are looking for a part-time bookseller who is an avid reader, enjoys talking about books, and looks forward to helping customers and their kids find their next read. The work schedule may be set or vary to meet the needs of the store, and the hours will be between 10 and 15 hours per week. Flexibility and ability to contribute to a collaborative working environment will be essential. Previous experience working in a bookstore, library, or another retail environment is desirable but not required. Must be available for weekday open hours.
Physical Demands
- Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time
- Occasional lifting of 30 pounds
- Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders

Key Accountabilities
- Open or close (depending on where the hire ends up on the schedule) the store
- Take on key roles in daily operations
- Locate books, suggest similar authors or titles, and put the book in the customer's hands
- Shelve and organize books according to store standards
- Assist with store cleanliness and presentation, including dusting, sweeping, organizing, and straightening of merchandise
- Communicate book inventory issues in a timely manner
- Follow all cash-handling policies and procedures
