Anderson Valley Health Center (AVHC) is located in beautiful Mendocino county known for its Wine, Waves and Wilderness, 2.5 hours north of San Francisco. Anderson Valley Health Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center and is the sole provider in the Anderson Valley area. We serve a unique population of general patients and migrant and seasonal farm workers. AVHC is currently seeking a Registered Dental Assistant to join our family and help us provide excellent care to the residents of Anderson Valley.

Job Description:
As a Dental Assistant, you should be reliable and be able to build trust with patients of all ages. You should have a knowledge of relevant health and safety rules. The duties of a dental assistant are among the most comprehensive and varied in the dental office. The dental assistant performs many tasks requiring both interpersonal and technical skills and works cooperatively with other dental staff.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure patients feel as comfortable as possible before their examination
- Sterilize dental instruments properly
- Provide chair-side assistance to the dentist
- Educate patients of all ages on proper teeth care (by demonstrating, for example, good brushing techniques)
- Give instructions to patients after operations or other dental procedures
- Take X-rays
- Maintain documentation and charts on each patient
- Monitor supplies
Skills
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or similar role
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations in this profession (e.g. HIPAA)
- Experience in preparing and maintaining dental equipment
- Outstanding communication skills
- A patient and friendly demeanor
- Attention to detail
- Stamina to meet the physical demands of the job
- Valid license to practice
