Duties
- Operate paving equipment such as asphalt pavers, screeds, concrete mixers, and concrete pumps to lay asphalt and concrete surfaces efficiently and accurately.
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on heavy machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance.
- Manage the loading and transportation of materials using commercial trucks like dump trucks and loaders, following DOT regulations.
- Assist with concrete forming, rebar installation, and finishing tasks to ensure high-quality pavement surfaces.
- Follow safety protocols rigorously during all phases of paving operations, including adherence to OSHA standards and construction site safety regulations.
- Collaborate with team members on construction projects involving civil infrastructure, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
- Use basic math skills for measurements, calculations related to material quantities, and equipment adjustments to meet project specifications.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating heavy construction machinery such as excavators, loaders, dump trucks, and paving equipment in a civil infrastructure setting.
- Mechanical knowledge for equipment maintenance and troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
- Familiarity with bituminous materials, concrete work—including finishing—and concrete pumping techniques.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations including OSHA standards and DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately for measurements and material estimations.
- Construction site experience with a focus on asphalt paving, concrete finishing, rebar installation, and working on large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) or equivalent for operating commercial vehicles safely on job sites.
- Excellent teamwork skills combined with a proactive approach to safety protocol adherence and equipment operation.
