We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Tree Climber to join our growing team. The ideal candidate is passionate about arboriculture, thrives working outdoors, and has the skills to perform tree pruning and removals safely and efficiently.

Position Summary

The Tree Climber is responsible for climbing trees using ropes, saddles, lifts, and other industry-approved equipment to perform pruning, removals, cabling, bracing, and other tree care services. This position works closely with Crew Leaders and Groundspersons to ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Climb trees using proper climbing techniques and safety procedures.
• Perform tree pruning, trimming, thinning, and removals.
• Operate chainsaws, handsaws, pole saws, and other arborist equipment safely.
• Remove hazardous limbs and trees near homes, roadways, and utility lines while following all safety regulations.
• Assist with rigging operations and lowering heavy limbs and sections safely.
• Inspect trees and identify potential hazards, defects, and structural concerns.
• Maintain climbing gear, ropes, saddles, and personal protective equipment.
• Follow ANSI Z133 safety standards and company safety policies.
• Communicate effectively with crew members and customers on job sites.
• Assist with site cleanup and debris removal as needed.
• Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and continuing education opportunities.

Qualifications

Required:

• Previous tree climbing experience in the tree care industry.
• Ability to safely perform aerial pruning and removals.
• Experience operating chainsaws and rigging equipment.
• Strong understanding of tree care safety practices.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Preferred:

• ISA Certified Arborist credential.
• Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• CPR/First Aid certification.
• Experience operating aerial lifts, chippers, skid steers, and other tree service equipment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to climb, balance, bend, kneel, and work at heights.
• Ability to work safely in physically demanding environments.
• Comfortable working in hot, cold, wet, and windy weather conditions.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb, and perform strenuous labor throughout the workday.
