Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Laser Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating CNC laser cutting equipment to produce precise metal components, ensuring high-quality standards are maintained throughout the production process. This role requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and familiarity with various fabrication and machining techniques to support our manufacturing operations.
Duties
- Set up and operate CNC laser cutting machines, including programming and calibration for different sheet metal specifications.
- Read and interpret technical blueprints, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate fabrication.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on laser equipment to minimize downtime.
- Conduct quality inspections using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and other tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Utilize additional fabrication tools such as press brake machines, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, plasma cutters, and welding equipment as needed.
- Manage tooling changes and ensure proper setup for each job order.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area adhering to safety standards.
- Assist in the assembly of fabricated parts when required.
- Follow safety protocols related to electrical discharge machining, crane operation, and handling sheet metal.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating CNC laser cutting machinery; knowledge of CNC programming is highly preferred.
- Mechanical knowledge with experience in manufacturing environments involving machining, welding, and fabrication processes.
- Familiarity with blueprint reading, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and quality inspection techniques.
- Ability to operate hand tools, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments accurately.
- Experience with tooling setup for various equipment including press brakes, CNC mills, lathes, stamping presses, plasma cutters, and electrical discharge machining is advantageous.
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to crane operation, sheet metal handling, and use of hand tools.
- Basic math skills necessary for measurements and calculations involved in fabrication work.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on producing high-quality components in a fast-paced environment.
- Prior experience in welding or assembly is a plus but not mandatory. This position offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic manufacturing team where precision and quality are paramount.
