What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fabricator-Welder position at Anderson Metal Fabricating?
Welder / Fabricator
Anderson Metal Fabricating — Sartell, MN
Full-Time | Monday–Thursday
Anderson Metal Fabricating is growing, and we're looking for an experienced Welder/Fabricator to join our team.
We're a small, growing fabrication shop doing a wide variety of work. You'll work from prints, fit and assemble parts, weld, finish, and help take projects from raw material to finished product.
We're looking for someone with solid welding and fabrication skills who also fits well on a small team. You don't need to know everything. We value people who take pride in their work, communicate well, are willing to learn, and are good to work alongside.
What You'll Do
- MIG weld primarily mild steel
- Read and work from fabrication drawings and prints
- Fit and assemble fabricated components
- Work with sheet metal, plate, tubing, and formed parts
- Weld material ranging roughly from 16 gauge through 3/8"
- Check dimensions, fit, squareness, and weld quality
- Grind, sand, and finish parts as needed
- Work on a variety of projects rather than the same part all day
Experience with stainless steel, aluminum, TIG welding, or complex assemblies is a plus, but not required.
What We're Looking For
A good fit for our shop will:
- Have previous welding and fabrication experience
- Produce clean, consistent MIG welds
- Be comfortable reading prints and basic weld symbols
- Understand fit-up and how to build parts accurately
- Be dependable and take ownership of their work
- Work independently while still being comfortable asking questions
- Care about the finished part — not just the weld
- Be willing to learn how we do things and share their own experience
- Work well with the rest of the team
Skill matters here, but so does attitude.
We're not looking for someone who thinks they already know everything. We're looking for someone who's good at what they do, takes pride in it, and still wants to keep getting better.
Schedule
Monday–Thursday, 6:30 AM–5:00 PM
Four 10-hour days. Three-day weekends every week.
Pay
Competitive pay based on experience and ability.
We're looking for the right person and will consider compensation based on your welding and fabrication experience, skill level, and the type of work you're comfortable taking on independently.
Benefits
- 401(k) with 4% company match
- Paid time off
- Paid sick time
- Dental insurance
- Vision insurance
- Opportunities to learn and take on more responsibility as we grow
What It's Like Here
We're growing, but we're still a small team.
We expect good work and hold ourselves to a high standard, but we're not interested in running an ego-driven shop. People help each other, communicate directly, and work together to get the job done.
If you're a capable welder/fabricator who wants steady work, a four-day schedule, variety, and a shop where you can be part of the team rather than just another number, we'd like to hear from you.
Hiring Process
We'll start with a conversation about your experience and the type of fabrication work you've done.
Final candidates will complete a paid hands-on welding/fabrication test. Nothing designed to trick you — it's simply a chance for both of us to make sure the work is a good fit.
Apply through Indeed with your work history or resume.
