Volunteer Engagement Coordinator, Full-time

Anderson Humane believes volunteers are one of the most powerful forces for good in a nonprofit like ours. They believe animals deserve better. They comfort scared and unsure animals, patiently feed orphaned wildlife babies every 2 hours, and bring therapy pets to people who need friendship. Behind these moments is a thoughtfully built volunteer program and the team that brings it to life. The Volunteer Engagement Coordinator helps create an environment where people feel valued while contributing their time and talents to our animals.

This full-time position requires a dynamic individual who can elevate the volunteer experience with warmth and confidence from day one. This is not an entry-level volunteer coordination role.

Pay: $18.00 per hour.

What you’ll do

• Engage and support volunteers by fostering positive long-term relationships.
• Coordinate and assist with mission-aligned volunteer activities and group engagement opportunities.
• Recognize and celebrate our volunteers’ contributions to the organization and the animals we serve. 
• Manage onboarding, training, communication, and compliance processes.
• Provide professional assistance to the Volunteer Engagement Manager and other departments as needed.   
• Participate in all department activities to grow a robust and successful volunteer program.

What to Expect

• A combination of office, shelter, outdoor, and community-based work environments.
• Shared office workspace; exposure to loud noises.
• To serve as a warm and professional organization ambassador to the community.
• Interaction with domestic and wildlife animals.
• To be physically active throughout the workday: walking, standing, and lifting up to 50 pounds with assistance.
• To adhere to safety protocols due to potential animal-related risks, like bites and zoonotic illnesses.

What We’re looking for

• Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes weekdays, evenings, weekends, holidays, and as needed.
• Minimum of 1 - 2 years of professional experience working with volunteers, customers, or the public.    
• An enthusiasm for creating positive experiences.
• An appreciation for working with the public.
• Highly organized candidate who is comfortable managing large groups.
• Ability to coach in a cooperative style that builds trust and accountability.
• Ability to effectively grow positive, long-term reciprocal relationships.
