Job Summary: Responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, assembling, and sterilizing all instruments and equipment for all patient care areas of the hospital.
Job Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates knowledge in clinical care and procedures in the responsible department.
- Demonstrates computer skills and technical competency.
- Follows policies for cleaning, assembling and sterilizing all instruments and equipment of all areas of the hospital as well as operation and care of same equipment and instruments.
- Retrieves all supplies and equipment as needed form patient care areas and returns to Sterile Processing.
- Operates cleaning and sterilization equipment in the department according to manufacturer’s recommendation.
- Engages in activities to expand and/or enhance the role of the CRCST.
- Accepts flexible scheduling when necessary. Performs call duties as assigned.
- Accepts other duties that may be assigned by the SPD Manager or Supervisor as necessary to facilitate the functions of the department and hospital.
- Utilizes effective communication skills in interactions with employees, customers and peers and promotes teamwork.
- Dons/doffs PPE appropriately.
Qualifications:
Education Requirements and Other Requirements:
Education Level: High School Diploma/equivalent. Bachelors degree preferred.
Certification/Licensure: Certified Registered Central Service Technician required or obtained within the first 18 months of employment. Only IAHSCMM certifications are recognized.
Experience Requirements: 1 year of Central/Sterile Processing experience required.
