Intake Coordinator

We’re expanding our behavioral health programs to provide 24/7 emotional and trauma-informed support to adolescents in crisis. As part of our growing team, you’ll help shape a compassionate, culturally responsive care experience for every client and their family.
About the Role
As an Intake Coordinator, you’ll be the first point of contact for youth and their families, guiding them through the admission process with professionalism, empathy, and attention to detail. You’ll also work closely with clinical teams, referral sources, and community partners to ensure all documentation and requirements are completed accurately and on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Create a welcoming and supportive intake experience for youth and guardians.
- Collect and verify all required documentation for placement.
- Ensure treatment consents are completed and filed properly.
- Verify insurance coverage and maintain confidential records.
- Communicate with referral sources via phone and email.
- Support guardians with admissions paperwork and guidance.
- Collaborate with Treatment Team regarding intakes and discharges.
- Maintain strong partnerships with DSS and MCOs.
- Manage authorizations for treatment and ongoing documentation.
- Participate in outreach efforts and additional administrative duties as needed.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Services 2 years of relevant experience, OR
- Non-Human Services bachelor’s degree 4 years of related experience.
- Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Human Services 1 year of post-grad experience.
- Licensed or provisionally licensed in a human services field.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of behavioral health documentation (CCA, PCP).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly organized with attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Prior experience working with youth and families (2–4 years preferred).
- Ability to self-regulate and remain calm under pressure.
Additional Requirements
- Must be 21 years or older.
- Valid NC driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
- Open to feedback, growth-oriented, and willing to learn.
