Duties

  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, air brakes, and HVAC components on various heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery
  • Perform preventative maintenance including oil changes, tire service, shocks & struts replacement, wheel alignments, and brake repairs to ensure equipment longevity and safety
  • Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot electrical systems, wiring harnesses, and electronic controls on industrial equipment
  • Fabricate parts or modify existing components using power tools, welding equipment, soldering techniques, and hand tools to meet specific repair needs
  • Conduct heavy lifting safely using appropriate lifting equipment; perform assembly or disassembly of machinery parts during repairs or upgrades
  • Maintain detailed service records documenting diagnostics, repairs performed, parts used, and time spent on each job
  • Provide excellent customer service by explaining repair procedures and maintenance recommendations clearly to clients

Skills

  • Proven dealership or heavy equipment service technician experience with strong mechanical knowledge
  • Proficiency in automotive diagnostics and electrical troubleshooting on diesel engines and industrial machinery
  • Skilled in fabrication techniques including welding, soldering, and metalworking for custom repairs or modifications
  • Experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors-trailers, or other farm/industrial machinery
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams accurately
  • Familiarity with vehicle maintenance procedures including air brake systems, alignments, shocks & struts replacement
  • Competence in using power tools, hand tools, diagnostic scanners, and other service equipment safely and effectively
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate repair details clearly while maintaining professionalism
  • Physical capability for heavy lifting tasks; comfortable working in various environmental conditions including outdoor settings
