Anderson Creek Emergency Services is seeking highly skilled and dedicated Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians (AEMTs) to join our Emergency Services team. This is a 911-response-only position.
This critical role involves providing advanced pre-hospital life support care, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients in emergency situations. The Advanced EMT is responsible for operating ambulances in compliance with all local and state regulations, responding promptly to emergency calls, and delivering high-quality patient care.
Duties include assessing patient conditions, performing life-saving interventions, administering appropriate treatments, and safely transporting patients to area medical facilities.
This position operates under general supervision but requires a high degree of independent judgment. The successful candidate will be expected to develop effective work methods, prioritize rapidly changing situations, and make sound clinical decisions in the field.
Essential Functions
The following functions represent the majority of duties performed in this role. Management may assign additional responsibilities as needed.
- Operates emergency medical units in response to calls for assistance and during transport to area hospitals, both emergently and non-emergently.
- Administers advanced life support techniques and procedures based on patient assessment, including all EMT-level skills, approved medication administration, initiation of intravenous fluids, airway management, and cardiac care.
- Transports patients to local and regional medical facilities while maintaining communication with medical staff and ensuring continuity of care.
- Completes patient care reports using paper and electronic systems, ensuring accurate documentation for billing and legal purposes.
- Participates in ongoing training to maintain certification and enhance technical and operational proficiency; studies district and surrounding road systems to improve response efficiency.
- Inspects and tests emergency vehicles and equipment; maintains proper inventory; cleans and sanitizes equipment daily; ensures all equipment is in proper working order; reports major defects for repair.
- Maintains cleanliness and performs minor maintenance of EMS facilities, including sweeping, mopping, dishwashing, sanitizing living spaces, and maintaining exterior areas.
- Participates in community outreach programs to promote safety, prevention awareness, and EMS education.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Completion of an EMT course and successful completion of the state examination
Special Certifications and Licenses
- Certification as an AEMT by the State of North Carolina, or eligibility for state reciprocity/legal recognition
- Harnett County credentialing required within 120 days of hire
- Current CPR certification
- NIMS ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 certifications within 90 days of hire
- EVD/EVOC/VFIS certification within 30 days of hire
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

Compensation and Benefits
- Certification Level: Advanced EMT
- Schedule: 24 hours on / 24 hours off (rotating), followed by 4 consecutive days off
- Starting Salary: $48,500 annually (includes built-in overtime; paid bi-weekly)
- Additional Pay: Overtime for unscheduled callbacks and monthly continuing education

Duties

- Utilize triage skills to prioritize patient needs efficiently in high-pressure situations at Level II trauma centers or urgent care settings.
- Administer injections and medications following strict aseptic techniques and medical protocols, ensuring patient safety at all times.
- Operate emergency vehicles safely, demonstrating proficient driving skills while managing heavy lifting and physical exertion during rescue operations.
- Collaborate with hospital staff and emergency room teams to facilitate seamless patient handovers and ensure continuity of care.
Skills
- Extensive critical care experience combined with hospital or emergency room background enhances your ability to handle complex cases confidently.
