Job Description
Position: School Nurse
Reports To: Nurse Coordinator/Building Principal
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- -Be present, on time and ready to work.
- -Possess good oral and written communication skills.
- -Have the ability to professionally interact with students, staff, families, and outside agencies.
- Have the ability to prioritize tasks and problem solve with the use of good nursing judgement
in a potentially fast paced setting.
- -Have the ability to handle and stay calm in emergency situations.
- -Have the ability to use basic math skills such as carbohydrate counting and insulin calculation
multiplication, some fractions.
- -Be able to work independently with little to no supervision.
- -Seeks education and supervision as necessary.
- -Assess and care for student health needs and be able to determine if they are returning to
- -Able to navigate and document care and med delivery in the current computer
- -Provide and document first aid and emergency care for students and staff.
- -Maintain appropriate paperwork for students’ medications.
- -Administer approved and ordered meds to students using the 5 Rights of medication delivery.
- -Implement medically related procedures and monitor student’s responses (ie: tube feedings,

- -Maintain student health confidentiality.
- -Assure student immunizations are completed and correct documentation is in place.
- -Assure student health issues are identified in the computer system and communicated to

- -Assure students receive appropriate growth and development lessons in appropriate grades.
- -Be aware of how to appropriately and safely delegate student care.
- -Complete and submit reports as required.

Qualifications:
