Duties
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance using proper manual handling techniques and equipment like Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature, accurately documenting findings in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Support patient transfer methods ensuring safe movement using appropriate patient transfer techniques and equipment.
- Observe and report changes in patient condition promptly to nursing staff, especially in critical care or emergency medicine environments.
- Maintain patient confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA regulations and ensuring medical documentation is accurate and secure.
- Provide emotional support and effective communication to patients and their families, fostering trust and reassurance during their care journey.
- Assist with medical procedures such as catheter care, medication administration under supervision, or phlebotomy when trained and certified.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) from an accredited program.
- Experience working with diverse populations including geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, and those requiring memory or hospice care.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, aseptic techniques, basic life support (CPR), and safe lifting practices.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments such as emergency medicine or urgent care with acute or sub-acute needs.
- Strong caregiver communication skills with a focus on patient service and team collaboration.
