Job Summary

The Director of Training & Quality Assurance is the subject matter expert on all matters related to the CDL program for Ancora Training. This person is responsible for quality control of a best-in-class CDL program that adheres to all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and state regulatory agency regulations and will develop and assist in the training of CDL Regional Program Directors, Area Managers, Program Directors, Lead Driver Trainers, and Driver Trainers on best practices and policies to run an efficient CDL program. This position will help drive fleet management to ensure profitable, safe programs system-wide. This person will work closely with the Admissions and Business Development teams, cross-functional support teams, and division senior leadership to set training standards and functional implementation. This role will address programs and/or staff identified as performing substandardly by implementing steps that lead to development and accountability to achieve sustained high outcomes that meet program objectives. The Director of Training & Quality Assurance applies expertise in sectors of transportation, training, regulations, and the market to identify growth opportunities and business risks to enhance company revenue.



Key Responsibilities

  • Work in conjunction with Regional Program Directors, Area managers, and program support teams to onboard and train new CDL instructional teams and directors on programs and curriculum.

  • Ensure all instructional staff and leaders across all CDL client platforms have completed the required onboarding course in the company’s Learning Management System, and assign additional courses as needed/applicable based on skills and abilities. 

  • Ensure curriculum is consistent across all client platforms leveraging the resources that have been created and implemented to include the CDL SOP, QA SOP, training assessments, and testing and remediation protocols.

  • Train the field on compliance and operational best practices for all aspects of the CDL training program. Coordinate and schedule visits to work with the field to improve instructional capabilities, enhance performance, and create a culture of teamwork and collaboration.

  • Intervene and assist in student or staff Code of Conduct escalations, investigations, or related; assist Human Resources where applicable. 

  • Analyze CDL Testing Results in all markets to identify areas for improvement. Leverage data to make decisions on training and development needs and any necessary progressive corrective actions and/or performance improvement plans. 

  • Investigate and record state regulations in areas/markets of operation to ensure compliance with curriculum, program, and training staff.

  • Investigate and record each state's testing options: DMV, third-party testing, and reciprocity with other states. Pursue establishing third-party testing in any state that is allowed to include internal third-party testing in locations that are feasible for Ancora Training and have been approved by the Senior Director of Operations and Director of Operations. 

  • Ensure training locations have the required supplies and resources to operate the training program. Ensure equipment and staff allocation and schedules are commensurate with student volume levels of training programs. 

  • Work with the training staff on improving communication skills with peers, students, and clients.

  • Regularly review, understand, and make recommendations to improve efficiency across all aspects of the CDL business.

  • Coach and mentor exempt program leadership roles to develop direct reports and improve individual and team performance


Experience and Education Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Experience working with students, instructors, and clients

  • Holds an active CDL Class A License

  • 5 Years of work experience in CDL driving and training

  • At least 24 months experience as a CDL Program Director

  • Working knowledge of FMCSA regulations

  • Intermediate knowledge of CampusVue, Google Suite products, and Internet navigation

  • Detail-oriented and ability to analyze reports in multiple formats

  • Actively listens and responds appropriately

  • Ability to identify problems and seek solutions

  • Maintains professionalism at all times

  • Time management skills with the ability to multitask

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate through verbal and non-verbal means with students, co-workers, and various levels of clients and external regulatory agencies

Experience and Education Preferred

  • Associate Degree or Higher

  • 1-3 years experience in customer service or training role dealing with corporate partners

  • Knowledge of multi-state regulations for CDL

Salary : $75,000 - $90,000
