Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Broadcast Tower Crew Chief to lead and oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications towers and related equipment. This pivotal role involves managing field service teams, ensuring safety compliance, and executing complex tower climbing and rigging tasks. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in cell tower construction, RF testing, fiber splicing, and high-voltage systems, all while demonstrating a strong commitment to safety standards and operational excellence. As a Crew Chief, you will play a critical role in supporting the deployment of 4G/LTE, 3G, and emerging 5G networks to ensure seamless connectivity for our clients. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to lead technical projects in outdoor environments while fostering teamwork and safety.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate tower climbing operations, including antenna installation, cabling, and rigging using hand tools, bucket trucks, and cranes.
• Supervise field technicians during construction activities following blueprint specifications and telecommunication standards.
• Perform telecommunications testing such as RF (radio frequency) testing, antenna alignment, and signal troubleshooting to ensure optimal network performance.
• Execute fiber splicing tasks with precision to support high-speed data transmission infrastructure.
• Conduct high-angle rescue operations adhering to OSHA safety standards and construction fall protection systems to ensure team safety at all times.
• Manage cabling projects involving high voltage, low voltage, and power systems while following federal construction safety regulations.
• Utilize telecommunications testing equipment like voltmeters and RF analyzers to diagnose issues and verify system integrity.
• Oversee the use of safety gear such as fall protection harnesses, climbing equipment, and construction fall protection systems during tower climbs.
• Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, including inspection reports, RF test results, and safety logs.
• Ensure compliance with all OSHA safety standards and telecommunication industry best practices during outdoor work environments.

Skills

• Extensive experience working as a cell tower technician with proficiency in tower climbing, antenna installation, and RF testing.
• Strong knowledge of high voltage systems, fiber splicing techniques, cabling procedures, and telecommunications infrastructure deployment.
• Skilled in rigging operations using appropriate tools and equipment for lifting heavy components safely at height.
• Ability to operate bucket trucks safely for elevated work tasks such as antenna mounting or equipment maintenance.
• Familiarity with telecommunication testing equipment including voltmeters, RF analyzers, and signal testers.
• Deep understanding of federal construction safety regulations as they relate to tower work and outdoor field service projects.
• Experience implementing OSHA safety standards for working at heights with fall protection gear and construction fall protection systems.
• Ability to follow detailed blueprints or technical specifications accurately during installation projects.
• Competence in high-angle rescue operations ensuring team safety during emergencies or unforeseen incidents.
• Strong communication skills for coordinating with team members and reporting project status effectively.
