The organization raises awareness about the ongoing threats of looting, theft, and illegal trade of cultural property. AHHCI works to ensure that these artifacts and histories are documented, secured, and shared responsibly with global communities. Volunteers play a key role in supporting preservation, advocacy, and education efforts.
Role Description This is an on-site volunteer role based in Santa Clara, CA. Volunteers will assist with cataloging and organizing historical materials, supporting research projects, and helping prepare educational content and exhibits related to ancient human heritage and civilizations. Day-to-day tasks may include data entry, basic artifact documentation under supervision, helping with workshops or events, and collaborating with team members to support outreach and awareness activities. Volunteers will also help maintain orderly archives and contribute to public-facing materials such as displays, brochures, and online content. The role offers the opportunity to learn about cultural preservation while supporting AHHCI’s mission to protect and honor ancient heritage.
Qualifications
- Interest in history, archaeology, anthropology, or cultural heritage and a willingness to learn.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for cataloging, documentation, and data entry.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to support educational materials and public outreach.
- Ability to collaborate respectfully in a diverse, multicultural environment and work under guidance.
- Basic computer skills (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, online research) and comfort with learning new tools.
- Reliability in maintaining agreed volunteer schedules and following preservation and handling guidelines.
- Prior experience in museums, archives, libraries, or educational settings is helpful but not required.
- Ability to be present on-site in Santa Clara, CA; all genders, backgrounds, and ages (subject to local regulations) are welcome to apply.
- Arabic written and speaking fluent its a plus for us :)
