Responsibilities
- Operate tractor-trailer trucks with manual transmission across designated routes, adhering to all safety regulations and traffic laws.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checking brakes, tires, lights, and load securement.
- Drive various types of trucks such as dump trucks, flatbeds, tanker trucks, and refrigerated trailers to deliver freight promptly and accurately.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, deliveries, and vehicle maintenance records in compliance with federal regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding route adjustments, delivery schedules, or any issues encountered during trips.
- Ensure cargo is loaded securely and safely to prevent damage during transit; assist with load & unload procedures when required.
- Follow route plans efficiently while managing time to meet delivery deadlines; adapt to route changes as needed for optimal efficiency.
Experience
- Proven experience as a commercial driver with a valid CDL Class A license.
- Demonstrated ability to operate manual transmission trucks safely across diverse routes.
- Prior delivery driver experience involving freight handling and load & unload operations.
- Familiarity with route driving strategies and maintaining logs in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
