    Job Summary
    The Senior Warehouse Specialist manages daily operations in the warehouse such as inspecting shipments, packaging items, reviewing billing and inventory, and working with vendors and customers for the Anchorage School District. Maintenance employees work a 4/10 schedule with weekends and holidays off.     Job Requirements
    The following are required:
    • A high school diploma or equivalent, or current enrollment in a GED program.
    • Must possess a valid Alaska class A or class B commercial driver’s license with air brake endorsement.
    • Must possess certification for both standing and sitting pallet jacks and forklifts.

    The following are preferred:
    • Minimum of three years of current experience in stock, inventory, delivery, and warehousing required. Work experience must evidence ability to perform tasks assigned.

    Essential Job Functions
    • Inspects shipments received for conformity to purchase orders, noting and reporting shortages, damages, or other discrepancies.
    • Loads and unloads freight and equipment.
    • Handles follow-up of complaints received.
    • Reviews bills of lading for correctness and completeness.
    • Inventories warehouse stock and maintains accurate and up-to-date records.
    • Writes reports and files and purchase orders.
    • Makes proficient use of computers as relevant to duties.
    • Packs and prepares miscellaneous orders for routine and non-routine shipment or mailing.
    • Assists in processing truck transfer paperwork.
    • Safely operates standing and sitting style forklifts, electric and manual pallet jacks, hand trucks, single and tandem axle delivery trucks with power lift gates, flatbed trucks with power lift gates, small courier vans, step vans, pickup trucks, and specialized warehouse equipment in a safe manner.
    • Responsible for all aspects of specific areas of warehouse operations to include mailings, archives, storing of inventory, list item, surplus, and freight log-in.
    • Performs all warehouse duties at journeyman level.
    • Follows warehouse procedures, policies, and safety practices.
    • Accomplishes tasks assigned from plans, prints, and specifications.
    • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with others.
    • Works cooperatively with others and within established maintenance and safety procedures.

    Physical /Mental Demands
    The physical demands of this job require frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking and hearing. Specific visual abilities are also required. The employee is regularly required to reach with his/her hands and arms and occasionally lift items weighing less than 40 lbs. Additionally, the employee must be able to understand vague and implicit instructions, be able to readily recall facts and details, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure. The employee must have the ability to effectively manage the stress of working with students, parents, and other employees representing diverse cultures, personalities, and work styles in a dynamic work environment.

    Work Environment
    Work is performed in a professional environment with a wide variety of individuals having differing functions, personalities and abilities, including working with diverse groups of people in a variety of different settings.

    While performing the duties of this job the employee may be regularly exposed to a video display. The employee may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
