What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dog Walker position at Anchorage Dog Walkers?
Looking for dog lovers who are self-motivated, responsible, mature, trustworthy, multi-taskers, and problem solvers, for mid-day dog walking. Working outdoors with dogs can be fun and very rewarding, though sometimes challenging. Anchorage Dog Walkers has over 17 years of experience working with dogs of all sizes, ages, and ability levels. Our hours of operation are M-F between 10am and 4pm and we are looking for part time walkers for 2-5 days per week for 3-6 hours per day. Hours and days worked may be flexible.
Dog handling experience is preferred, although we do provide training. Walkers must be physically fit enough to walk at a brisk pace for multiple hours in the Alaskan outdoors in all types of weather. They must be able to leash walk up to 4 dogs at one time and be willing to pick up after the dogs. Walkers must be somewhat flexible with scheduling, as daily schedules may vary. They must be willing to promote good behavior by practicing basic dog training skills. Walkers must be 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or equivalent, be able to pass a background check, and be eligible to work in the U.S. They must have a reliable insured vehicle that can transport dogs safely (not in the open bed of a pick-up). Walkers must have a smart phone to access our online scheduling program while they work. Walkers must be willing and able to provide basic pet first aid, as needed.
Once training is completed ($14/hr), regular pay starts at $15-$23/hr (depending on qualifications). Mileage reimbursement provided. Potential bonuses and raises based on performance.
