About the Team
As part of Fairbanks Mobile Crisis Team (MCT), Peer Support Specialists respond as part of a Peer & Clinician team to individuals in crisis across the Fairbanks North-Star Borough community through dispatched 911 events. In collaboration with Law Enforcement and intra-agency dispatch centers, MCT Peer Support Specialists work under the direction of the Clinician and Clinical Team Manager to engage individuals in crisis and post-crisis services to promote strengths-based stabilization through advocacy, resiliency building, coping and regulation skill modeling, and meeting individuals where they are at.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as a role model, sharing lived experiences and offering hope to individuals in crisis.
- Identify strengths and natural supports to promote recovery-focused care.
- Document all activities accurately in the Electronic Health Record.
- Conduct follow-ups with individuals as recommended by the MCT clinician.
- Participate in the 24 hour on-call rotation, with ability for regular assigned days.

- Full-Time, Non-Exempt
- Compensation includes an hourly rate of $25.00 for hours worked, along with $350.00 for each scheduled 24-hour on-call shift. This position includes participation in a 24-hour on-call rotation.

What We Need from You
- Successful completion of Jen Galvan’s Peer Support Specialist training.
- Certification as a Peer Support Specialist I within 6 months of hire (preference given to those already certified).
- High school diploma or GED.
- Personal experience in recovery from mental illness, substance abuse, or co-occurring disorders, and willingness to share experiences to support others.
