Title: Junior Environmental Engineer

What’s the Opportunity?
Anchor QEA is seeking a full-time junior-level engineer to join our Syracuse, NY office. This position will support environmental and civil engineering projects through preparing technical reports, performing engineering calculations, analyzing field data, and supporting the development of design documents, as well as supporting environmental sampling (soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water), field investigations, and construction observation. Work may require travel, primarily within the northeast region, and occasionally elsewhere in the United States.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively, show initiative and attention to detail, and possess a strong interest in environmental engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Provide support for environmental and civil engineering projects through engineering analyses, field investigations, and construction oversight.
- Prepare engineering deliverables including design drawings, technical specifications, cost estimation, and calculations
- Assist with data evaluation and report writing (e.g., sampling plans, investigation reports, design reports)
- Support multidisciplinary projects involving remediation and infrastructure
- Perform environmental sampling (soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, biota)
What Are We Looking For?
Ideal candidates will have the following:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
- 2-5 years of related experience in environmental engineering or similar work
- A willingness to work on a variety of tasks simultaneously, across disciplines internally and externally, adhere to deadlines, and work in a client service-oriented team environment.
- Experience with New York State environmental regulations and DER-10.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification preferred.
- Experience with programming language(s), including Python, R, or similar a plus
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (preferred; may be provided upon hire)
- Ability to travel for field projects (up to 25%, depending on location and project needs)

Salary and Other Compensation:
- $73,500 - $90,000
- Annual Bonus
- Other potential bonus types: Billable Time Bonus, Spot Bonus, Milestone Anniversary Bonus, Receiving Professional License/Certification Bonus, Peer-reviewed Publication Bonus, Employee Referral Bonus.
Base Level Benefits for Regular Full-Time Positions:
