Job Description
Position Overview:
Lead the investigation to determine the viability of integrating proven technologies into client products. Responsible for the development, execution, and management of integrating these technologies from concept to New Product Development transition.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – Other duties may be assigned:

Ability to present technology projects in front of R&D leadership
Coordination and development of representative concept models used for verification.
Support Business Development in screening and selecting new ideas and technologies which are submitted internally and externally to the company.
Must be able to work effectively outside of core competencies to enable flexibility of project work and to drive projects to completion.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Occasionally responsible for directing the technical efforts of others.
Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering related field.
MS Degree in related field preferred.
8 years of engineering experience, or comparable experience
Minimum of 2 years mechanical engineering experience within a highly regulated environment (medical device, auto, aerospace, aviation)
Experience designing products with/requiring:
o Mechanisms (moving parts)
o Actuators (motors, solenoids, etc.)
o Fastening (fasteners, ultrasonic welding, snaps, steel welding, etc.)
o Off-the-shelf components
o Custom components
o Structural requirements (design for strength, deflection, stiffness)
o Hand- and computer-analysis/simulation
o Test and/or inspection fixtures
Knowledge of;
Plastic part design (injection-molding, blow-molding, gas-assist, etc.).
Basics of injection mold design
Sheet metal design
Basics of stamping tool design
Welded structure design (tubes & plates)
Material properties/selection (steels, polymers)
3D CAD (component and assembly design)Finite element analysis (FEA)
Basics of finite element theory
Manufacturing assembly processes and documentation
Design for Manufacturability (DFMA)
Preparing detailed drawings & material specifications
Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT, GD&T)
Configuration management (CM) practices.
Risk management practices (RMP, FMEA, etc.)
Critical parameter analysis (CPA)
Tolerance analysis (tools, methods)
Statistics/statistical methods
Mechanical performance testing, experimental equipment, writing protocols
Metrology (hand-measurement tools, vision systems, CMM, etc.)
FDA GMPS, cGMP (DMR, DHF, DHR, CAPA, 21-CFR-820)
Medical device standards (IEC 60601-01), preferred
Strong organizational and communication skills
Proficient problem solving skills
Strong Interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Engineering Software
Experience with project management is preferred
6 years working in cross functional teams consisting of discipline specific engineers, or comparable experience
