Boat Maintenance Technician – Outboard Engines

Employment Type: Short-Term / Temporary with Potential for Long-Term Employment
Travel: Frequent travel required; must be available to travel on short notice
Security Clearance: Active Secret Clearance required

Position Summary

Anchor Innovation, Inc. is seeking an experienced Boat Maintenance Technician to provide maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and operational support for small boats and marine systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience maintaining and repairing outboard engines, preferably Mercury outboards, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment.

This is initially a short-term position supporting immediate operational requirements. Successful performance may lead to a long-term follow-on employment opportunity based on future contract requirements and company needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective      maintenance on small boats and associated marine equipment.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose,      maintain, and repair outboard engines and related systems.
  • Perform routine engine services,      including oil and filter changes, fuel-system maintenance, cooling-system      maintenance, spark plug replacement, lower-unit service, and other      scheduled maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical,      electrical, fuel, starting, charging, steering, and control-system issues.
  • Diagnose and repair engine      performance problems in field and waterfront environments.
  • Inspect vessels before and after      operations and identify maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance,      inspection, repair, and parts-usage records.
  • Identify required replacement      parts, consumables, tools, and maintenance materials.
  • Assist with vessel launch,      recovery, movement, and preparation as required.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and      work areas in a safe and serviceable condition.
  • Provide responsive field support      when operational requirements change with limited notice.
  • Work independently or as part of      a maintenance and operational support team.
  • Comply with applicable company,      customer, safety, and security requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience      maintaining and repairing outboard-powered boats.
  • Strong working knowledge of      outboard engine mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ability to independently      troubleshoot and diagnose marine engine problems.
  • Active U.S. Government Secret      Security Clearance.
  • Current U.S. Passport and ability to travel      domestically and internationally.
  • Ability and willingness to travel      with little notice and remain at temporary duty locations for the      duration of an assignment.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work in marine,      waterfront, outdoor, and field environments.
  • Ability to safely use standard      marine maintenance tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment.
  • Ability to lift and move      equipment, parts, tools, and supplies associated with marine maintenance      activities.
  • Strong communication, teamwork,      and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mercury outboard engine      maintenance and repair experience strongly preferred.
  • Mercury Marine technical training      or certifications.
  • Experience with Mercury      diagnostic software and electronic engine-management systems.
  • Experience maintaining military,      government, law-enforcement, commercial, or other high-use small craft.
  • Experience with RHIBs/RIBs or      similar small tactical or work boats.
  • Experience troubleshooting      12V/24V marine electrical systems, batteries, charging systems, controls,      gauges, and associated vessel electronics.
  • Experience performing maintenance      in deployed or remote environments.
  • Spanish-speaking or bilingual      English/Spanish preferred but not required.

Travel Requirements

This position requires a high degree of travel flexibility. Candidates must be willing and able to deploy to customer or operational locations with limited advance notice. Assignments may involve domestic or international travel and extended periods away from the employee's home location.

A valid U.S. passport and active Secret security clearance must be maintained throughout the assignment.

Employment Duration

This position is being filled to support a short-term operational requirement. The initial period of employment will be temporary/short-term; however, there is a strong possibility of a long-term follow-on position based on performance, customer requirements, contract awards, and continued workload.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a hands-on marine technician who can arrive at a vessel, assess a problem, determine the appropriate corrective action, and return the boat to operational status with minimal supervision. Candidates with substantial Mercury outboard experience, an active Secret clearance, a current passport, and the flexibility to travel on short notice will be particularly well suited for this position.
