Sanitation Tech
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Sanitation Technician is responsible for ensuring that all exterior grounds, production, packaging, and warehouse areas are properly cleaned and sanitized according to company, customer, and regulatory standards. This role supports food safety, product quality, and operational efficiency by maintaining a clean and safe working environment across all facility zones.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform daily, weekly, and periodic sanitation of production equipment, floors, walls, tools, and common areas.
- Follow detailed Master Sanitation Schedules (MSS) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all cleaning tasks.
- Maintain accurate sanitation and cleaning logs to support audit readiness and regulatory compliance (FDA, SQF, FSMA, etc.).
- Disassemble and reassemble equipment safely for cleaning and inspection.
- Handle and properly dilute cleaning chemicals in accordance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and company training.
- Work closely with production and maintenance teams to ensure equipment is properly cleaned and ready for use.
- Inspect equipment and work areas to identify and report any damage, pest activity, or safety hazards.
- Adhere to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), safety rules, and company hygiene standards.
- Participate in ongoing sanitation and food safety training sessions.
- Assist with waste removal, recycling, and environmental cleaning duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Hold a valid driver’s license
- Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships
- Ability to:
- Work in both hot and cold climates
- Lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Stand for extended periods of time
- Work in dust
- Work in confined spaces

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to machinery and moving parts, airborne particles including grain dust and hazardous materials or fumes, which may require the use of PPE. The employee may be exposed to adverse weather conditions, extended seasonal hours, high precarious places and confined spaces. The noise level in some of the work environments may require the use of hearing protection.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time as well as use hands or fingers to reach or handle, and to talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. All vision abilities are required to encompass close-up work. On occasion, employee must be able to tolerate and endure extended seasonal hours and maintain alertness to meet deadlines.
