What are the responsibilities and job description for the NDT Technician II - 2nd Shift position at Anchor Harvey?
Position Purpose:
The NDT Technician II performs advanced non-destructive testing using manual and automated techniques - including Liquid Penetrant Testing (LPT)- to detect discontinuities and verify product integrity. This role requires demonstrated proficiency with NDT methods, equipment setup, calibration, and interpretation of results. The Technician II is responsible for mentoring NDT I technicians, ensuring compliance with specifications, and supporting continuous quality improvement across the department.
Essential Functions:
- Review routers, procedures, specifications, drawings and other instructions for completeness and instructions to perform operation
- Process part(s) in accordance with procedures and technical instructions for NDT testing.
- Set-up, operate, calibrate, and perform Process Control Checks on NDT (Liquid Penetrant Test) equipment by following established instructions and record results.
- Interpret, evaluate, and report evaluation results as required and outlined
- Fill out required logs and statistical data sheets as required.
- Clean equipment and ensures it is working properly, and clean and maintain work area as needed
- May perform other NDT as qualified for and as required.
- Maintain required job skills and knowledge of requirements (including procedures, specifications, etc.)
- Maintain work area, equipment, and all documents/records to be audit ready at all times
- Provide technical guidance to NDT Level I personnel; assist in their on-the-job training when required.
Education and Training:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 1-3 years of related NDT experience, meeting ASNT level II qualification requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Previous experience as NDT level 1 with demonstrated advancement to level II responsibilities.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings, blueprints, customer specs, industry standards.
- Proficient in the use of measuring tools and inspection equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to independently process parts, evaluate indications, and make accept/reject decisions.
- Strong documentation and data-entry accuracy.
- Working knowledge of lean methodology, quality assurance processes, and product testing requirements.
- Required level II certifications (or ability to certify):
- Liquid Penetrant
- Plus any additional methods used within the company.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to stand for an 8 hour shift. Position requires frequent twisting, turning, reaching, bending, pulling and pushing. Position occasionally requires walking, climbing, stooping, and crouching. The employee must be able to handle up to 24-45# repeatedly throughout the 8 hour shift. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Working conditions include exposure to extreme temperatures (heat) and humid conditions, dirt, and noise.

- Ability to work in a variety of environments which may include exposure to extreme heat, humidity, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, loud noise, and all weather conditions.
Pay & Benefits
Rate: In accordance with applicable pay transparency laws, the hourly rate of pay for this position is $23.00-$29.00. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, education, qualifications, and other job-related criteria. This pay range is provided to ensure transparency and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
