Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will support clinical operations for an obstetrics and gynecology practice. This role involves providing exceptional patient care, assisting with medical procedures, and supporting administrative functions within a fast-paced medical environment. Experience with EHR systems, medical terminology, and patient service is essential. Candidates should have Spanish-speaking abilities and demonstrate professionalism and empathy. The Medical Assistant will play a vital role in ensuring smooth patient flow and delivering high-quality healthcare services.
Responsibilities
- Assist with patient intake processes, including collecting medical histories and vital signs
- Support physicians and nurses during examinations and procedures
- Administer medications and perform basic life support when necessary
- Operate and maintain EHR systems accurately for documentation of patient information
- Prepare examination rooms and assist with diagnostic procedures such as colposcopy, LEEP, IUD placement or circumcisions.
- Assist with specimen collection and prepare patients for laboratory testing
- Provide patient education on treatment plans, medication administration, and follow-up care
- Support administrative tasks including appointment scheduling, patient service coordination, and documentation accuracy
Experience
- Prior experience in hospital medicine, urgent care, outpatient clinics, or emergency medicine preferred
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, ICD coding, and medication administration
- Familiarity with obstetrics and gynecology environment is a plus
- Ability to speak Spanish is a plus
- Proven ability to deliver compassionate patient service in fast-paced healthcare environments
