What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Equipment and Facilities Maintenance Technician position at Anastasia Mosquito Control District?
Anastasia Mosquito Control District of St. Johns County is seeking a seasonal employee to join our team as Equipment and Facilities Maintenance Technician from May 4th, 2026, to October 31st, 2026. This is a seasonal position with the potential to transition into a full-time role based on performance and business needs.
The purpose of this position is to to perform general ground and building maintenance and perform repairs and all mechanical work associated with District tools, vehicles and equipment. The selected candidate will work a full-time schedule from 6:30am to 2:30pm.
Some of the duties include but are not limited to:
- Performs scheduled maintenance as well as non-scheduled repairs on all vehicles and equipment.
- Under the supervision of the Senior Mechanic, perform a variety of maintenance for District facilities including carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC).
- Assist with the repair, installation and maintenance of all spray and fog equipment (larvicide and adulticide).
- Maintains buildings and grounds to high standards.
- Maintains equipment records and a clean work and shop area.
- Identify and report facilities and grounds hazardous conditions to supervisor.
- Follow all District safety policies and procedures and comply with all local, state and federal regulations at all times.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Possess a current and valid Florida Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
- Satisfactory criminal background check results, to be conducted after employment offer.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to operate hand operated power tools.
- Ability to obtain Public Health Pest Control License within a period of six months from date of hire.
