Our clinicians integrate evidence-based modalities including EMDR, CBT, DBT, TF-CBT, mindfulness, and somatic approaches, with opportunities to incorporate equine-assisted psychotherapy when clinically appropriate and aligned with training and interest.
Anam Cara serves a diverse population including youth, adults, veterans, first responders, survivors of trauma, LGBTQ individuals, and those navigating grief, recovery, and life transitions.
Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and motivated Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC/LMHCA) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW/LCSWA) to join our growing team.
This is a hybrid position based in La Porte, Indiana, offering flexibility between in-person and telehealth services. The role is currently part-time with the potential to grow into a full-time caseload.
The ideal candidate values relationship-centered care, enjoys working collaboratively within a small mission-driven nonprofit environment, and has a strong interest in trauma, nervous system regulation, and holistic approaches to healing.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual, family, and group counseling services
- Develop and maintain individualized treatment plans
- Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation
- Provide crisis intervention and care coordination as needed
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
- Participate in community programming and outreach opportunities
- Incorporate equine-assisted psychotherapy if trained/interested and clinically appropriate
Qualifications
- Active Indiana licensure (LMHC, LMHCA, LCSW, LSW, or equivalent)
- Strong foundation in trauma-informed mental health counseling
- Experience with evidence-based modalities such as EMDR, CBT, DBT, TF-CBT, or somatic approaches
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently while remaining collaborative within a team setting
- Comfort working with diverse populations and complex trauma presentations
Preferred (Not Required)
- Training or experience in equine-assisted psychotherapy models such as Natural Lifemanship, Arenas for Change (ARCH), EAGALA, or PATH-informed approaches
- Interest in experiential, somatic, or nervous-system-informed therapies
- Experience working with veterans, youth, LGBTQ populations, and/or survivors of trauma
- Experience supporting individuals with complex trauma presentations, including dissociation, attachment wounds, nervous-system dysregulation, and disordered eating, is highly valued.
