What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Staff Functional Safety Engineer position at Analog Group?
Own the technical confirmation measures to prove the product meets its safety requirements through analyses and tests. Main tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct safety analyses during product development to ensure that the safety-related requirements are achieved
- The Safety Analysis is conducted by the FS-SE together with the Concept Engineer
- The support of TCI, HW Design, Layout, Verification, and Qualification at different safety analysis phases is also required
Provide the FS-SE deliverables:
-Qualitative FTA
-Quantitative FTA
-DFA
-FMEDA
-HAZOP
- Base Failure Rate calculations based on industry standards SN29500 and ISO26262-11:2018 4.6.2.1.1 (former IEC TR 62380)
- Failure Rate and Hardware Architectural Metrics calculation to verify fulfillment of safety requirements
- Verification review report of FTA, DFA, FMEDA and HAZOP
- Reviews of safety requirements by review of RDDF Work Products(AA, PRQ, PASC, HWRQ, SWRQ, HWDRQ, SWURQ)
- Safety Analysis Report & Safety Analysis Summary Report. This covers product HW, SW and firmware (where applicable)
Your Profile
Qualifications and skills to help you succeed
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related technical field
- Proven experience in functional safety engineering in automotive and/or semiconductor industries with explicit emphasis on ISO 26262-4, 5, 10, and 11
- Strong understanding of power electronics, DC-DC converter topologies (e.g., buck converter), and thermal management principles
- Familiarity with automotive qualification standards (AEC-Q100,AEC-Q200, ISO26262) and design for reliability
- Experience with various design tools, such as CAD, CAM, CAE, and simulation programs
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and manage projects within defined scope, budget, and timeline
Desired skills:
- Knowledge of automotive systems architecture, including those for electric and hybrid vehicles, autonomous driving, and ADAS
- Experience with advanced product quality planning (APQP) and production parts approval process (PPAP) in the automotive industry
