Requirements / Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: •Graduation from high school or its equivalent. •Additional college level coursework in library skills preferred •Must meet one of the following: (1) an associates’ degree or higher; (2) completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education; (3) meet a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrated, through an assessment, the knowledge and ability to assist in instruction. •One year experience working in a library and instructional environment. LICENSES/CERTIFICATES/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: • A valid Class C California driver’s license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District’s Vehicle Insurance Policy. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR CONSIDERATION INCLUDE: •Knowledge of library practices, procedures and terminology. •Knowledge of Dewey Decimal, card cataloging systems, computerized library, reference and learning systems. •Knowledge of English usage, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary. •Knowledge of modern office methods, practices, and equipment including micro- computers and computer terminals. •Knowledge of standard library reference sources and other library related materials. •Ability to provide assistance in preparing and planning book talks and story telling. •Ability to assist students and teachers in locating and selecting materials; monitor and maintain acceptable student behavior. •Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
