Senior Materials Coordinator Supply Chain & Procurement

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Materials Coordinator to support procurement and supply chain operations for advanced engineering and R&D programs. This role is responsible for end-to-end ownership of sourcing, supplier management, material planning, and supply chain coordination to ensure timely material availability across multiple concurrent projects.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in procurement lifecycle management, supplier coordination, material planning, and working within complex BOM-driven manufacturing or engineering environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the complete procurement lifecycle from RFQ creation through purchase order placement and final delivery
- Execute and manage purchase orders while ensuring alignment with project timelines and schedules
- Conduct supplier negotiations to achieve cost-effective sourcing while meeting technical and delivery requirements
- Perform order tracking, expediting, and proactive supplier follow-ups to prevent delays
- Monitor material availability against build schedules to ensure uninterrupted R&D and engineering operations
- Identify supply chain risks including long lead times, shortages, and single-source dependencies, and implement mitigation plans
- Serve as the primary point of contact for supplier communications, issue resolution, and escalations
- Manage supplier quality issues including non-conformance handling and corrective action follow-ups
- Maintain accurate procurement documentation, reporting dashboards, and material tracking systems
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Engineering, R&D, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain stakeholders
- Provide regular updates on delivery schedules, material risks, shortages, and supply status
Required Qualifications:
- Experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain, or materials coordination
- Strong experience managing end-to-end procurement lifecycle activities
- Experience working in complex BOM-driven environments such as engineering, manufacturing, healthcare, or industrial systems
- Proven experience managing supplier relationships and multi-vendor ecosystems
- Knowledge of supplier quality processes, audits, and non-conformance handling
- Experience in material planning, demand-supply coordination, and scheduling
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting MRI systems, superconducting magnets, cryogenics, or highly technical manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or equivalent
- Prior experience supporting R&D or customer-embedded engineering programs
