Rate:

• $70 – $75/hr on 1099

• $75/hr on W2

About the Role

Fidelity is seeking an experienced Senior Java Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team responsible for building and enhancing cloud-native, high-performance backend systems. This role focuses on Core Java, AWS, and distributed microservices to support mission-critical financial platforms used across the organization. The ideal candidate is strong in backend development, cloud engineering, distributed databases, and large-scale system performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize backend services using Core Java

• Build and enhance microservices supporting high-throughput, low-latency financial workloads

• Develop cloud-native solutions using AWS services such as Lambda, EC2, S3, CloudWatch, IAM, and API Gateway

• Work extensively with distributed data stores including Cassandra for large-scale, resilient data processing

• Implement RESTful APIs to support enterprise integration and platform connectivity

• Ensure performance, scalability, security, and reliability across backend components

• Collaborate closely with DevOps, QA, SRE, and Architecture teams

• Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and engineering best-practice discussions

• Troubleshoot production issues, optimize backend performance, and contribute to stability and resilience improvements

• Support ongoing modernization, refactoring, and cloud-migration initiatives across Fidelity platforms

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on expertise in Core Java and backend engineering

• Experience with AWS services (Lambda, EC2, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, SQS, etc.)

• Hands-on experience with Cassandra or other distributed databases

• Strong understanding of REST APIs, microservices, and distributed system patterns

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and modern DevOps workflows

• Solid debugging skills and ability to identify performance bottlenecks

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

• Experience in financial services or large-scale enterprise environments is a plus
