Morning Baker

Ana Bandeira Chocolates Cafè
Northampton, MA Full Time | Part Time
POSTED ON 10/22/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 1/27/2027

We are a small, international chocolate company looking for a skilled and dependable Morning Baker to join our production team.

Professional baking experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person. More important to us are reliability, attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and genuine interest in baking and culinary work.

This position is responsible for preparing our daily baked goods for opening each morning. You will learn our specific systems for weighing, mixing, proofing, baking, finishing, and displaying products while working from detailed recipes and production procedures.

We make nearly everything from scratch in-house, including breads, croissants and pastries, cakes, cookies, pies, mousses, confections, and chocolate products. Because our kitchen combines baking, pastry, confectionery, and chocolate work, there are significant opportunities to learn new techniques and grow within the company.

We believe great food begins with great ingredients. We are looking for someone who shares that mindset and takes pride in producing consistently excellent work.

Responsibilities

  • Work early morning baking shifts, with start times as early as 5:00 a.m.
  • Proof, bake, finish, and decorate breads, pastries, and other baked goods for daily service.
  • Accurately follow recipes, production schedules, and established procedures.
  • Weigh and measure ingredients carefully and consistently.
  • Monitor baking, proofing, and finishing to maintain consistent quality.
  • Present finished products neatly and attractively for customers.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe workspace.
  • Wash dishes and equipment as needed. We work as a team to keep the kitchen and bakery clean and running efficiently.
  • Monitor ingredient and supply levels and communicate needs to management.
  • Assist with other kitchen and production tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of professional baking, pastry, restaurant, or commercial kitchen experience preferred.
  • Baking experience is helpful, but we are willing to train a strong candidate with the right attitude and aptitude.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately.
  • Good time-management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently while maintaining quality in a fast-paced kitchen.
  • Comfortable working with commercial kitchen equipment, including ovens, mixers, knives, and baking tools.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Reliable and able to consistently arrive for early-morning shifts.
  • Culinary education or certification is welcome but not required.
  • Interest in learning baking, pastry, chocolate, and confectionery techniques.

This position may involve extended periods of standing, repetitive kitchen tasks, and lifting and carrying ingredients, equipment, and trays.

About Us

We are a small, international chocolate company producing tree-to-bar chocolate using cacao grown on our family farm in Brazil.

Our family has been growing cacao for four generations, and we work directly with the same cacao throughout the entire process. We are involved from the selection of ripe cacao pods through fermentation and drying, roasting, chocolate making, and finally the production of our bars, pastries, desserts, confections, and drinks.

Having control over the entire process allows us to focus closely on flavor, ingredient quality, and consistency.

Our kitchen and café are fast-paced, hands-on, collaborative environments. We value people who are curious, dependable, detail-oriented, and interested in developing their skills.
