Job Title: Field Service Technician
Summary
As a Field Service Technician at AmWest Control, you will positively represent the company while ensuring customer satisfaction with our products and services. Your core responsibilities involve the electrical commissioning, calibration, testing, inspection, repair, and maintenance of automation components, associated instruments, and telemetry systems within the water and wastewater industries. This includes significant work with diverse electrical and electronic instrumentation such as pressure switches, transducers, valves, actuators, gas monitors, flow meters, radar, and level transmitters. You will also be involved in the maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical systems like Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and Motor Control Centers (MCCs). You'll maintain calibration documentation, troubleshoot issues independently, and provide customer training on SCADA computers and associated electrical equipment.
Responsibilities
- Represent the company and its principles to our customers in a positive and proactive manner, ensuring that the products and services delivered by the company perform to the satisfaction of the customer.
- Commission, calibrate, test, inspect, repair, and maintain automation components and associated instruments in the water and wastewater industries.
- Commission, calibrate, test, inspect, repair, and maintain telemetry systems associated with SCADA host systems in the water and wastewater industries.
- Maintain calibration documentation and certification.
- Be familiar with the operation and installation of various 'associated instrumentation' including but not limited to both electronic and pneumatic pressure switches, pressure and flow transducers, valves, actuators, gas monitors, flow meters, radar, and mechanical level transmitters.
- Technicians work with little supervision and therefore must be able to solve problems with little or no outside input.
- As directed in an assigned field service call-out provide training to the customer's employees and advise them on proper procedures to use SCADA computers and associated instruments.
- Configure electrical and instrumentation systems at client sites.
- Calibrate equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with specifications.
- Provide technical support and training to clients on system operations.
- Maintain accurate records of service activities and report findings to management.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a similar field service position performing similar tasks on SCADA computers, telemetry, instrumentation, analyzers, and PLCs.
- Must have the training and direct hands-on experience installing, calibrating, and troubleshooting SCADA computers and associated instrumentation, including pressure, temperature, flow, and level.
- Must have computer skills, specifically the ability to use Microsoft Windows (XP, 7, 10,11), Word, Excel, and have the ability to learn to use proprietary databases.
- Must have an understanding of basic IP networking.
- Additional experience working on other types of industrial electrical and electronic equipment including but not limited to motors, variable frequency drives, valves, actuators, meters, and analyzers is preferred and if necessary, will be developed through formal training and hands-on work.
- Good communication skills, both oral and written, are necessary since reports and verbal explanations are usually part of the job.
Qualifications

- Must have a valid driver's license, and clean Motor Vehicle Record.
- Must have a good mechanical and electrical background, preferably in the water/ wastewater industry.
- Must be knowledgeable of automated machine controls.
- Must be able to read and follow blueprints, machine drawings, and electrical drawings.
- Must be able and willing to travel on occasion.

Pay: $40.00 - $52.00 per hour
