This is a full-time position requiring weekend availability.

SUMMARY:
The Food Purchasing Manager is responsible for the daily operation of food purchasing, storage, and dispensing processes to meet the needs of various hotel departments and functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for all food purchases for the hotel.
. Oversee distribution of all goods according to the requisition and company procedures; inspect to ensure supplies/product is in good condition before accepting, know what items are not available, replace and rotate stock in correct place as soon as possible, keep proper inventory levels stocked.
. Utilize Birch Street Purchasing software for ordering, requisitions, and inventories. Maintain accurate product information within Birch Street.
. Follow up with vendors for back orders, substitutes, and other issues.
. Keep precise records, files, reports, and contracts. Remain within budget for department, projects and/or supplies.
. Maintain and research pricing for all purchased goods.
. Maintain all records needed for accounting.
. Maintain all specifications and update them in conjunction with the chefs on a constant basis.
. Schedule employees based upon forecasted volumes.
. Manage the operation of the food purchasing department; train employees on proper goods receiving and storage methods.
. Perform routine duties independently; discuss or seek approval on complex matters with Finance & Accounting. Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
. Has a fiduciary responsibility to the company and management.
. Handle and manage information confidentially.
. Attend departmental meetings.
. Follow AHC handbook policies and standard operating procedures.
. Complete all daily responsibilities/cleaning task list.
. Follow our hotel green policies.
. Ensure trash/recyclables are taken out
. Follow AHC guest service standards.
. Actively work with department staff, while following all departmental rules.
. Any other additional responsibilities that may be asked by General Manager, Guest Care Manager, Manager on Duty or Supervisor.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Previous Culinary experience and or knowledge preferred.
. Delegation and Communication: Assign tasks as necessary.
. Organization: Demonstrate ability to proactively prioritize needs and effectively manage resources.
. Performance management, supervisory: Demonstrate ability to relate to, communicate with and motivate employees to sustained high performance and quality levels.
. Planning: Skilled in determining whether tasks should be attempted, identifying the most effective way to complete the task, and preparing to overcome expected difficulties.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Three to four years' management experience in hotel purchasing operations preferred
- ServSafe certification preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Culinary experience is preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
