Overview

The Underwriting Support Technician III handles many aspects of policy processing and issuance which include new business and/or renewal preparation, quoting and issuance; endorsement processing; cancellations; and/or all other policy processing associated tasks in accordance with authority level and company guidelines. Products contained within CPP Operations are listed below. These may include a variety of states. This position has contact with field offices and agents to compile information and communicate to the status of various accounts. This position may have additional underwriting authority level.

Products within CPP Operations include, but is not limited to: ASP, ASPP, BOP, CONPKG, CONGL, CPP, CPPCA, E&S, LUM, MOTCAR, UMB, UMBR.

Responsibilities
    Processes and prepares endorsements, non-renewals notices, or cancellations and other associated tasks as required and within letter of authority, and/or;
  1. Prepares renewals policies for underwriter review and pricing, and/or;
  2. Completes processing of renewals within letter of authority and premium guidelines and/or;
  3. Supports underwriting in the entry and processing of quotes and new business, and/or;
  4. Completes issuance of new business, including Bind On Line.
  5. Manually rates coverages and/or policies that are not fully automated.
  6. May complete/process ICC Motor Carrier Filings.
  7. Provides training to other employees on company products, processing and systems.
  8. Communicates in writing and by phone with agents and field office staff to gather information for risk development.
  9. Recognizes workflow inefficiencies and recommends ideas for improvement.
  10. Recognizes system and forms breaks and accurately reports Help Desk, and/or Forms Support.
  11. Backs up supervisor (and/or Unit Lead) when they are not available or out of the office by monitoring the team's work and handling escalations.
  12. May perform Endorsement Triage.
  13. Coaches and mentors lesser experienced UST's.
  14. Achieves and maintains a 95%, or above, Productivity Level.
  15. Achieves and maintains a 97%, or above, level of Quality.
  16. Promote goodwill for the company with all customer contact.
  17. Performs projects and other duties, as assigned.

Authority Level:

  1. Underwriting: Includes all in the Endorsement Triage By-Pass. May also have limited additional authority assigned by Underwriting/Product Managers in a written letter of authority.
  2. Processing Systems: Systems include ANA and CPP Rating; and other company approved systems'.
  3. Resource Systems: Oden, Polk, Silverplume, Reference Connect, Pro-Metrix, Lexis Nexis, ISO 360 and any other company authorized resource systems.
  4. Decisions: Must follow company established procedures. May assign daily work to staff.
Qualifications

Required:

  1. Must be able to accurately enter information in a windows-based environment.
  2. Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office Applications and ability to learn new software programs.
  3. Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas, both in writing and verbally.
  4. Ability to follow underwriting direction; recognize and resolve discrepancies/potential issues
  5. Highly organized and possess excellent follow through.
  6. Must be customer service focused.
  7. Possess a strong math aptitude.
  8. High school diploma, or GED equivalent.
  9. Must have at least 8 years Commercial Lines Insurance experience.
  10. Must be able to manually rate several lines of business; and understand rate development.
  11. Must be able to process multiple Product types, Lines of Business, and multi-state policies.

Working Conditions:

May be required to work overtime as defined by the needs of the department.

The job may require travel, but no more than 10%.
