Summary Of Duties

Play a vital role in supporting the company's Corporate Communications mission to develop, coordinate, implement, amplify, and manage effective public relations campaigns. Highlight benefits and progress surrounding Amtrak’s historic infrastructure investments, including new tunnels, bridges, trains, and more. Assist in proactively advancing corporate goals, business priorities, and goodwill among key internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Functions

  • Execute strategic communication plans to promote Amtrak's products, services, and business objectives through earned and shared coverage.
  • Produce diverse written content including news releases, employee messages, and social media communications.
  • Conduct media relations activities, acting as a spokesperson and organizing media events.
  • Build and maintain relationships with editors/reporters, securing promotional interview opportunities.
  • Monitor media coverage, produce comprehensive reports, and participate in crisis communications planning and execution.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience.
  • Plus 6 years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience.
  • Plus 8 years of relevant work experience.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Proficient in media relations and communications best practices.
  • Exceptional written, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Capable of simplifying complex material for various audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative abilities.
  • Thrive in fast-paced environments, managing multiple projects and providing ongoing metrics.

The salary/hourly range is $94,300.00 – $122,256.00. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
