Job Summary

Responsible for inspection, testing, maintenance and repairs to movable bridges. Troubleshoot the mechanical systems that operate movable bridges in accordance with FRA and Amtrak standards and guidelines.

Essential Functions

• Laying and fitting metal parts of moveable bridges with or without drawings.
• Manual machine sizing, boring, turning, threading, milling, and measuring.
• Dismantling, repairing, and rebuilding gearboxes of multiple types.
• Reading and analyzing prints.
• Troubleshoots equipment to determine corrective actions and causes of equipment failures.
• Maintains proper care and use of materials, test equipment, machines, and hand tools normally associated with assigned job.
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

• Completion of technical school or apprenticeship program preferred.
• Apprenticeship as a machinist.
• Experience in troubleshooting, repair, replacement or rebuilding mechanical equipment and systems.
• Must have a valid driver’s license at time of hire.
• Must be able to lift 50lbs be able to maneuver heavy tools and machinery parts.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in bridge construction.
• Vocational/technical training in mechanical field.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings.
• Ability to read, write and communicate proficiently.
  
  

Communications And Interpersonal Skills

• Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  
  

The hourly range is $30.95 – $41.26 (with opportunity for increases, as per the applicable collective bargaining agreement, after beginning employment).
