Production Planner – Job Summary
The Production Planner is responsible for scheduling and releasing production orders in the ERP system to ensure timely manufacturing and delivery of products. This role maintains accurate master data, optimizes production workflow, and supports cross-functional collaboration to meet operational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain Item Masters, Bills of Material (BOMs), and Routers/Travelers in Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP.
- Convert planned orders to production orders based on capacity, materials, and customer demand.
- Generate and communicate work center schedules, adjusting timelines to meet production goals.
- Manage master data parameters such as lot sizes, lead times, scrap rates, and safety stocks.
- Oversee product purges, prioritize work orders, and mitigate risks to production schedules.
- Investigate material shortages or production delays and implement corrective actions.
- Document standard operating procedures and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; 1–2 years of related experience.
- Strong command of English, both written and spoken.
- Basic math and reasoning skills; able to solve standard production problems.
- Computer skills: Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Access, PowerPoint), intermediate Excel (VLookup, Pivot Tables), ERP/inventory management.
- Familiarity with blueprint reading and raw material specifications.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Frequent: standing, sitting, walking, typing, handling objects, talking/hearing.
- Occasional: lifting/pushing/pulling up to 10 lbs.
- Rare: lifting/pushing/pulling heavy weights (50 lbs), stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing.
- Frequent exposure to mechanical parts, fumes, chemicals, and moderate-to-loud noise; occasional exposure to very loud noise and outdoor weather.
