CATIA Design Engineer Job Description & Responsibilities
Overall Responsibility:
ArcelorMittal Tailored Blanks (AMTB) is looking for a full time CAD Designer for the Product Development department. This position will be based in Detroit, Michigan. AMTB is part of ArcelorMittal Steel, the largest steel company in the world. We are one of the largest suppliers of laser welded blanks in North America and a global company.
Duties/Responsibilities include:
1. Help conceptualize with AMTB Product Development and OEM engineers, laser welded blank solutions Body Frame Integrated (BFI) and Body On Frame (BOF) vehicle architectures
2. Develop CAD designs of proposed concepts to assist in product development and advance engineering
3. Develop understanding and implement best practices in design and manufacturability for current and emerging steel grades, hot stamping and laser welded blank technologies
4. Design for manufacturability and assembly feasibility
5. Provide assistance in other support activities like product engineering support, manufacturing feasibility support, material qualification.
Skill Sets:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
- High level proficiency in CATIA v5 with extensive use of surfacing and sheet metal design modules
- General knowledge of automotive design
- Basic knowledge of automotive sheet steel products
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) A Must
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Fulfill all Health and Safety & Environmental responsibilities as identified in the HSE Management Standards, and ISO 14001 Management Systems.
- Self starter, go getter, innovative, motivated and hard working individual
