SUE Field Technician

A. Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. (AMT), an employee-owned consultant engineering firm, is seeking an SUE Field Technician to join our Team in our Rockville, MD office and add significant value to our company growth. Position can also be located in our Washington, DC office.ResponsibilitiesAnalyze and interpret complex utility records and printsTravel to assigned work site and perform utility designation, (identifying and marking underground facilities)Use electromagnetic locating equipment and follow the AMT designating process to ensure accurate and complete locatesWear appropriate safety equipment and follow established safety practices and procedures established by managementContact Senior SUE Tech when in need of assistanceOther duties assigned by managementQualifications1 years of experience with SUE and/or private utility locatingAbility to work outdoors in all types of weather and all types of field conditions Physical demands include extensive walking and bending. The employee must have the ability to open manhole covers and or other structure of varying weightsAbility to work on a vacuum truck, perform maintenance, complete test holes and reports accordingly. Maintain all vac truck equipment and suppliesAbility to read and understand directional maps, topographic maps and various types of utility printsAbility to use and interpret various pieces of electromagnetic utility locating equipmentAbility to multi-task, i.e. make research calls for one project while commuting to another project, coordinate with crew members on various jobsAbility to work out-of-town on an as needed basisWhy Join AMT?At AMT, we understand that our most valuable asset is our staff.
