SUE Field Technician II

A. Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. (AMT), an employee-owned consultant engineering firm, is seeking an SUE Field Technician to join our Team in Rockville, MD and add significant value to our company growth. 

• Analyze and interpret complex utility records and prints
• Travel to assigned work site and perform utility designation, (identifying and marking underground facilities)
• Use electromagnetic locating equipment and follow the AMT designating process to ensure accurate and complete locates
• Wear appropriate safety equipment and follow established safety practices and procedures established by management
• Contact Senior SUE Tech when in need of assistance
• Other duties assigned by management

• 3 years of experience with SUE and/or private utility locating
• Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and all types of field conditions
• Physical demands include extensive walking and bending. The employee must have the ability to open manhole covers and or other structure of varying weights
• Ability to work on a vacuum truck, perform maintenance, complete test holes and reports accordingly. Maintain all vac truck equipment and supplies
• Ability to read and understand directional maps, topographic maps and various types of utility prints
• Ability to use and interpret various pieces of electromagnetic utility locating equipment
• Ability to multi-task, i.e. make research calls for one project while commuting to another project, coordinate with crew members on various jobs
• Ability to work out-of-town on an as needed basis
