Join Amsted Rail Petersburg and take ownership of critical heat-treatment operations that shape product performance and reliability. You will configure and run furnaces, induction and flame-hardening systems, soaking pits, and vacuum equipment to achieve precise tempering, hardening, and annealing results—safely, accurately, and efficiently.
Your impact
- Program and adjust furnace temperature controls to match material specifications and process requirements.
- Load/unload parts and manage flow through the heat-treat line.
- Continuously monitor equipment status and parameters; verify conformance to operational setpoints.
- Read blueprints, follow operational sequences, and confirm finished dimensions.
- Execute in-process quality checks: visual inspection, gauges, SPC tracking, and hardness testing.
- Set up equipment and tooling; use hand and power tools to set up presses.
- Remove, clean, and change tooling to maintain uptime and quality.
- Complete preventative maintenance and inspection checks on heat-treat systems and fork trucks.
- Document production and quality results; tag and segregate nonconforming material.
- Collaborate with the Control Room Operator, Specialists, and Maintenance to resolve issues.
- Deliver repeat and first-run parts to spec with minimal supervision.
- Maintain 6S and housekeeping standards, including scrap container oversight.
What you bring
- Successfully pass a pre-employment drug & background screening
- Ability to lift, push, and pull 10–50 lbs, and stand/walk throughout the shift.
- Commitment to PPE and safety, ergonomics, and environmental requirements.
- Mechanical aptitude; prior industrial experience preferred.
