Role Overview As a Grinding Quality Control Inspector, you’ll ensure machined and fabricated bearing components meet print and specification requirements. You will use gauges and follow the departmental quality plan to verify dimensions, document results, and support smooth, safe operations across the grinding area. A Day in the Life Start your shift with safety: follow plant-wide safety, ergonomics, and environmental practices under the Amsted Rail Health & Safety program.Inspect in-process and finished parts for conformance using gauges; assist with first-piece inspections.Spot defects early, segregate nonconforming product, and notify the right people to keep production on track.Help setup personnel during changeovers and when switching attachments across work lines/cells.Record inspection and test data per quality procedures; log production run information in the company system.Use hoists/cranes or manual methods to position components safely.Pitch in where needed: operate equipment, pack product, and handle materials as assigned. Qualifications Successfully pass a pre-employment drug & background screeningAbility to lift, push, and pull 10–50 lbs; stand and move throughout the department and shiftCommitment to wear employer-provided PPE as required by the departmentMechanical aptitude; prior industrial/manufacturing experience is a plusTo accomplish this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without accommodation.
