CNC Machining Operations Lead

If you thrive in fast-paced manufacturing and enjoy removing obstacles so people can do their best work, this role is for you. As our CNC Machining Operations Lead, you’ll guide a department through nightly production while keeping safety, quality, and throughput front and center.

• Open every shift with an engaging safety talk and uphold Amsted Rail’s safety, ergonomics, and environmental standards.
• Be the on-floor point person for issues, with hands-on knowledge of all jobs in the area.
• Align materials, tooling, and support with maintenance, engineering, and leadership to meet the schedule.
• Coach for performance—set expectations, recognize wins, and address gaps promptly.
• Train, mentor, and audit work practices to sustain quality and safety.
• Verify part quality, contain defects, and coordinate corrective action quickly.
• Assist with line/cell changeovers, attachments, and adjustments.
• Operate hand and power tools safely.
• Record accurate production data in company systems.
• Read and apply operation sequences, specs, and final dimensions.

• Program selection in machine control units to kick off operations.
• Preventive maintenance on equipment to reduce unplanned downtime.
• Rapid troubleshooting of equipment problems and part compliance issues.

• Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
• Physical capability to lift, push, and pull 10–50 lbs.
• Ability to wear all required PPE.
• Comfort standing and moving throughout the department for the entire shift.
• Strong mechanical aptitude; prior industrial and front-line leadership preferred.
