What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tooling Associate position at Amsted Automotive?
ABOUT THE ROLE
Amsted Automotive Group, Transform Products, Shelby Township, is looking for a Tooling Associate for our 2nd shift (3pm – 11pm 15% shift premium) who will be responsible for supporting production operation setup and efficiencies by keeping tools, dies, and machines optimized.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Primary Function Summary
- Adapt and promote Lean Manufacturing principals using 5”S” and Kaizen processes
- Support the Company’s Goals and Objectives through Continuous Improvement action plan participation and completion
- Learn to troubleshoot, Repair, Maintain and optimize transfer and line dies in press and out as required
- Learn to operate Tool room equipment and machinery with precision
- Supports press setup and efficiency as a team to achieve posted expectations
- Adherence to safety procedures and protocols
- Learn root cause analysis, problem solving skills to promote efficiency and quality
- Responsible to maintain product quality to print specifications where applicable
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Tooling Manager, Tooling Supervisor, Tooling Leader,
- Must be available to work overtime as required to meet Customer Demand
- Serves in the capacity of wastewater handler commensurate with completion of proper environmental training
- Reports directly to the Tooling Supervisor, may receive direction from Tooling Manager or Production Supervisors
- May receive direction from Plant Manager
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
- Must learn and demonstrate proficiency of Blueprint GD&T interpretation of Dies, Details, and Part Prints
- Must learn to effectively troubleshoot and solve daily operational deficiencies
- Usage of a computer and other productivity machinery such as control panels
- Must learn to interpret C.M.M. or gaging information and adjust Tooling to maintain Customer Quality requirements
- Possess working knowledge of IATF16949, ISO 14001, and Q1 compliance criteria to maintain manufacturing environmental standards to protect and preserve or customers product and the environment
- High school diploma or GED
- Some college or technical trade manufacturing education is preferred
- Some experience working in Manufacturing environment.
