ABOUT THE ROLE
- Set-up machines and adjusts as required including calibrated gauging and chucking equipment.
- Assist in preforming insert and tool life testing and data recording for engineering tests.
- Trouble shoot related quality and operational issues (work holding, loading and tool failures).
- Obtain inspection approval upon set-up completion prior to production run.
- Use calibrated precision measuring instruments and blueprints.
- Make minor repairs as needed.
- Monitor SPC functions and assist operators as required.
- Monitor production runs for correct set-up operation and product.
- Know how to set-up and operate all equipment in the department including automated lines.
- Perform necessary preventative maintenance on machines as required.
- Perform necessary recordkeeping and paperwork.
- Seek help if problems arise and ask questions if you don’t understand.
- Participate in team problem solving as part of the departmental continuous improvement process.
- Validate appropriate completion of operator PMs.
- Audit scrap reporting and tool life data reporting of operations staff.
- Train and share knowledge freely with both operators and operational staff.
- Use various testing devices, chemicals and material moving equipment according to appropriate guidelines and procedures.
- Follow all safety rules and keep work area clean and in an orderly condition.
- Wear all personal protective equipment as required by the safety policy.
- Be responsible and accountable for the professional use of assigned work periods, machinery, equipment and tools.
- Understand and perform to the BN Quality Policy taking pride in the products produced.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

Physical requirements include: good speaking, hearing and vision ability, excellent manual dexterity, ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds occasionally.
Work is performed in a typical manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, dust, dirt, oil and grease, with several elements continuously present to the extent of being objectionable. Full-time position. May require some overtime and weekend hours.
Education:
High school diploma, GED, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities. Must successfully complete the pre-hire math and mechanical aptitude test.
Experience:
A minimum of 3 years previous experience and training in lathe and mill setup set-up, 5 years in manufacturing environment including CNC equipment operation preferably Fanuc, is required.
Skills & Knowledge:
Forklift operation, work holding, part loading automation, Fanuc controllers, high level of technical aptitude, G-code reading, print reading.
