What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Supervisor position at Amspec LLC.?
Responsible for supervising field staff and ensuring compliance with regulatory, industry and company regulations and policies.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the management of the location’s field staff, including but not limited to: delegation of work; providing work schedules; training; hire, fire and disciplinary recommendations
- Oversee detailed inspection work in petroleum and petrochemical terminals and refineries as well as onboard vessels and barges
- Possess a thorough knowledge of federal and state regulations as well as industry minimum standards and ensure all work is performed to such standards
- Perform announced and unannounced audits of field staff covering areas of safety and job performance – prepare audit reports together with recommendations for further training or termination from company as required
- Implement training programs in order to ensure ongoing compliance and industry leading expertise
- Investigate quality concerns and issue Corrective Action Reports as necessary – advise on hiring and terminations
- Ensure strict enforcement of AmSpec policies and procedures
- Safety Sensitive position that requires pre-employment, random and annual drug and alcohol testing (including marijuana testing).
Required Skills
- Ability to work with little or no supervision for extended periods of time within and outside of normal business hours.
- Able to analyze complex and involved situations and make informed decisions based on discretion and sound business judgement when guidance from supervisors may not be readily available
- Ability to interact with individuals from many diverse countries and areas and present sound and logical reasoning for decisions made
- Strong ethical judgement and desire to ensure that the correct methods and processes are followed at all times
- Strong inter-personnel skills and patience necessary to teach inspectors the correct way to carry out their responsibilities
- Strong math and analytical reasoning skills
- High school diploma and some college preferred, industry experience a plus

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Physically demanding job in the field requiring ability to climb ladders and work in extreme weather conditions
